When you are pulling out the weeds and the dead stuff, it looks much better! I discovered that when I pulled up all of last year’s zinnias that had bloomed and died. That little garden looked good when I got that done.

It’s the same with our spiritual life. If we are hanging on to sin, bad attitude, unforgiveness, selfishness, past hurts, and past self-abuse and self-doubt; if we are hanging on to any of that, we lose. All that junk (including my own) has to go. Can we do that on our own? NO! But if we work with God on this cleaning project, the garden of our life will look great … and we will produce more fruit.

God help us to get our hands off the weeds and let the Master Gardener Jesus take it out. (Is anybody else feeling convicted by this? I know I am.)

  1. Oh yes! I can relate. Sometimes I feel like the weeds and sometimes I feel like last year’s Zinnias and sometimes I’m the whole garden that needs cleaning out! I can’t do anything alone from my place in and among the detritus. The Lord God has the perspective to know what needs to go and what needs to be watered and tended and I badly need him to do it. Come Lord Jesus and tend the garden that is me.
