Let Me Introduce You To Karen Day

Spread the love

My name is Karen Day and I am married to the World’s Best Husband, John Nelson Day.  We will be celebrating 25 years of marriage on July 9th of this year.  There is so much I want to tell you about me, because I enjoy telling “my story,” as well as hearing about yours.

I was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, a little over 61 years ago, to James and Jackie Rowell.  They eventually were blessed with four children, two girls and two boys.  Unfortunately, they didn’t stay married for life.  They got a divorce when I was 15 and Dad got remarried not too long afterwards.  He was shot and killed by his second wife when I was a freshman in college.

I tell you all of this to let you know that I was blessed to be raised by a woman who only had a high school education and made sure myself, my sister, and my two brothers didn’t lack for any of the essentials.  She earned a living by keeping children in our house.  (I have told many people over the years that Mom raised most of the children in Brandon, Mississippi!)

Mom is a strong Christian woman who says she doesn’t have any talents, but I claim that raising her four children and other people’s children was (and is) a great talent.  Mom is almost 82 years old and is still going strong, telling anybody and everybody she can about Jesus.

I became a Christian when I was 11 years old at my grandmother’s country church in Caesar, Mississippi.  It was four months later when my new found walk with the Lord was first challenged as my dad sat all of his children down to let them know that he was leaving our mother.  Dad was a Christian, but he had a hard time dealing with anger.  He would keep it all inside until some little thing would set him off.  I struggled with loving my dad and being glad that he was no longer living in our home.  It took me a long time to just let the Lord love Dad through me.

Anyway, that is a little bit about me and my beginnings.  I am looking forward to telling you more next time.  Remember to be Jesus with skin on to everybody you meet.

I love you!
