Eight sayings by my former pastor, Brother Paul, a true man of God

Brother Paul

Brother Paul is on the right, next to his son and one of his grandsons

It’s time to introduce you to my former pastor, Brother Paul Schmidt. These are truths that he taught to his three sons, all of whom are active in ministry. Brother Paul lived these sayings too. He won over 1,000 people to Christ.

1.) Always be kind to your waiters and waitresses and tip them well.
2.) Open the door for every person.
3.) People need love the most when they deserve it the least.
4.) Go to the back of the line and let others go first.
5.) There’s never a wrong time to do the right thing. There’s never a right time to do the wrong thing.
6.) People will forget what you say, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel.
7.) Don’t serve the Lord for money, fame, or importance. The ministry is its own reward.
8.) We can rest for a little while but we can never quit.

Brother Paul has been with the Lord now for over two years, but his impact still continues through his sons and the rest of his family. He was a great preacher and a great example of a Godly man.

  1. Brother Paul sounds like a wonderful man. His sayings, although simple, are more wise and Christ like than brilliant theologians arguing the fine points of some scriptural trivia. It is inspiring. They are things we can all do. He truly loved his neighbor. So glad you posted this.

    1. He was a sweet man and a good preacher. He said that when he first started preaching, he was “ignorance on fire.” He did our “renewal” ceremony. We were married in Mississippi but lived in Eastern Kentucky, so our then church family didn’t get to experience the ceremony. His sons, by the way, are also in the ministry. What a legacy.
