Day 14 of 100 prophecies fulfilled by Jesus – Have eternal existence! Wow! … Micah 5:2; John 1:1, 4; 8:58; Col. 1:15-19
(My comments below after the scripture.)
Micah 5:2 – But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come forth for Me One to be ruler over Israel, whose origins are of old, from the days of eternity.
John 1:1, 4 – In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ; verse 4 – The Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
John 8:58 – “Truly, truly, I tell you,” Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born, I am!”
Normally I don’t comment on any of these prophecies fulfilled by Jesus, but this is just too important to ignore, the fact that Jesus, a baby born to Mary and prophecied about for centuries, existed before He was born. No one else can say that! The Word was with God, and the Word was God.
In our Bible study at the senior center, we are covering the book of John, which this last scripture comes from. Can you imagine the crowd’s reaction when Jesus said: “Before Abraham was, I am.” This was the same statement that God made to Moses when he asked: “who shall I say sent me?” God’s answer was “I Am.” Jesus used the “I Am” phrase seven times in the book of John.” The time He used it here, they picked up stones to kill Him!
The fact that Jesus existed before He was born may be hard to understand, but the truth cannot be denied. Jesus is eternal. I think that is really cool.
