Day 12 of 100 prophecies fulfilled by Jesus – Massacre of children

Day 12 – Massacre of children – Jer. 31:15; Mat. 2:16 – 18

Jer. 31:15 – This is what the LORD says:

A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing consolation because they are no more.”

Mat. 2:16–18 – When Herod saw that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was filled with rage. Sending orders, he put to death all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, according to the time he had learned from the Magi. 17Then what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:

18“A voice is heard in Ramah, weeping and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and refusing consolation because they are no more.”

  1. This prophecy always gives me chills. It so vividly predicts the slaughter of the innocents. If Joseph had not listened to the angel of God ( Matthew 2:13) and, after the magi departed, immediately took Jesus and Mary to Egypt until Herod died and it was safe to return, things would have turned out very differently.
I love to think about Joseph. An ordinary man, a woodworker, but one who was so in tune with God that he was entrusted with the care and raising of our Lord. It always makes me wonder what I could do it I just listen very carefully for God’s will and obey it without question.
