How do we know we are not cast away? We are not forgotten.
Last night, my wife and I watched a movie that we had seen in the theater years ago. It featured Tom Hanks, who was a FedEx employee, always driven to work and succeed. He gets on a plane which crashes and he lands up on a desert island. The movie is called Castaway.
His character goes through so much for so long. His only companion is a volleyball named “Wilson” and a pocket watch of his girlfriend, Kelly, with her picture inside the cover where it closes. He is alone, isolated, and felt very much helpless. After the movie, Karen and I talked about it and realized there were some lessons that senior citizens and others could learn from this. The purpose of this post is to share those lessons and to offer encouragement to those that may feel isolated and cut off from the rest of the world. What we need to realize is that we are seriously loved by almighty God, our creator, who made us in His image, in His likeness, after HIs own heart. The one true God of the universe loves us. Secondly, we need to be reminded that this God who loves us and created us in His image, is always present, everywhere, in all places. When it is dark, He is there. When it is cold, He is there too. When we feel like we are alone, we are not. God is there. Always. Consistently there. Finally, we need to realize and be reminded that God, who made us and loved us, sent His son to die on the cross so that those of us who believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16). If we are in Christ, we are never alone – literally, never. We are not forsaken. We are not cast away. I accepted God’s free gift of eternal life as a teenager. I did nothing to deserve it. I just admitted that I needed Jesus and asked Him to forgive me of my sins and come into my heart. Have you done the same? Have you asked Jesus to come into your heart, to save you? If you have, then you can know that you have eternal life, that you are eternally loved, and that you are never cast away. You are loved. I hope and pray that you know that today. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

open wheat field
87.) Zech. 11:12-13 – I said to them, “If it is good in your sight, give me my wages; but if not, never mind!” So they weighed out thirty shekels of silver as my wages. 13Then the LORD said to me, “Throw it to the potter, that magnificent price at which I was valued by them.” So I took the thirty shekels of silver and threw them to the potter in the house of the LORD
Mat. 27:3, 6-10 – Then when Judas, who had betrayed Him, saw that He had been condemned, he felt remorse and returned the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 6The chief priests took the pieces of silver and said, “It is not lawful to put them into the temple treasury, since it is the price of blood.” 7And they conferred together and with the money bought the Potter’s Field as a burial place for strangers. 8For this reason that field has been called the Field of Blood to this day. 9Then that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: “AND THEY TOOK THE THIRTY PIECES OF SILVER, THE PRICE OF THE ONE WHOSE PRICE HAD BEEN SET by the sons of Israel; 10AND THEY GAVE THEM FOR THE POTTER’S FIELD, AS THE LORD DIRECTED ME.”
Day 86 of 100 prophecies fulfilled by Jesus – sold for 30 pieces of silver

Day 85 of 100 prophecies fulfilled by Jesus – “cut off” at the perfect time
The full title is this “Be “cut off” at a specific time after Jerusalem wall rebuilt before the temple was destroyed” This is about God’s perfect timing for Jesus to come.
God’s timing is perfect
Dan. 9:24-26 – Seventy weeks have been decreed for your people and your holy city, to finish the transgression, to make an end of sin, to make atonement for iniquity, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the most holy place. 25“So you are to know and discern that from the issuing of a decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince there will be seven weeks and sixty-two weeks; it will be built again, with plaza and moat, even in times of distress. 26“Then after the sixty-two weeks the Messiah will be cut off and have nothing, and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. And its end will come with a flood; even to the end there will be war; desolations are determined.
Zech. 9:9 – Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout in triumph, O Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your King comes to you, righteous and victorious, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Mat. 21:1-5 – When they had approached Jerusalem and had come to Bethphage, at the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, 2saying to them, “Go into the village opposite you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied there and a colt with her; untie them and bring them to Me. 3“If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord has need of them,’ and immediately he will send them.” 4This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet: 5“SAY TO THE DAUGHTER OF ZION, ‘BEHOLD YOUR KING IS COMING TO YOU, GENTLE, AND MOUNTED ON A DONKEY, EVEN ON A COLT, THE FOAL OF A BEAST OF BURDEN.’”
Mat. 24:1-2 – Jesus came out from the temple and was going away when His disciples came up to point out the temple buildings to Him. 2And He said to them, “Do you not see all these things? Truly I say to you, not one stone here will be left upon another, which will not be torn down.”
Mark 1:15 – and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”
John 12:13-15 – took the branches of the palm trees and went out to meet Him, and began to shout, “Hosanna! BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD, even the King of Israel.” 14Jesus, finding a young donkey, sat on it; as it is written, 15“FEAR NOT, DAUGHTER OF ZION; BEHOLD, YOUR KING IS COMING, SEATED ON A DONKEY’S COLT.”
Day 84 of 100 prophecies fulfilled – interceded for the transgressors
Jesus interceded for the transgressorsIs. 53:12 – Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.
Luke 23:34 – But Jesus was saying, “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves.
Prayers requested for myself and for all site members
Please spend some time in prayer for myself and all site members. I am having some occasional hip pain. I don’t know whether it is muscle, nerve, or the hip (right now it’s the right hip. Sometimes it’s the left one. I will be on Medicare on Aug. 1 and plan to set up a “welcome to Medicare” appointment. I have been without insurance for 13 years and the Lord has sustained me through it all. I think the Medicare will help a lot.
Site members, I haven’t forgotten about you. As I am reminded of your needs, I pray for you. I know of needs you, your neighbors, and your families. So many others have needs far greater than mine. We all need the Lord’s help, and that comes through prayers for wisdom, peace, provision, healing, and whatever else the Lord wants to do in and through us.
Day 83 of 100 prophecies fulfilled – Numbered with the transgressors
Numbered with the transgressors
Is. 53:12 – Therefore, I will allot Him a portion with the great, And He will divide the booty with the strong; Because He poured out Himself to death, And was numbered with the transgressors; Yet He Himself bore the sin of many, And interceded for the transgressors.
Mat. 27:38 – At that time two robbers were crucified with Him, one on the right and one on the left.
Mark 15:27-28 – They *crucified two robbers with Him, one on His right and one on His left. 28 And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “And He was numbered with transgressors.”
Luke 22:37 – For I tell you that this which is written must be fulfilled in Me, ‘And He was numbered with transgressors’; for that which refers to Me has its fulfillment.”
Luke 23:32-33 – Two others also, who were criminals, were being led away to be put to death with Him. 33 When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left.
God says in the Bible over and over do not fear, but sometimes that emotion is beyond our control. What do we do then? Do we just give in to our feelings? Allowing them to keep us from experiencing all that God has for us? Or, do we keep pushing forward beyond our fears? For me I lived by my feelings, they limited my life for so long. My anxiety held me back, and to sooth my fears I would eat. It became so disabling. I could not fully experience what God had for me.
is fear holding you back
Let me list a few of the Bible verses on what God says about fear:
Isaiah 35:4 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 Say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, and do not fear, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”
John 14:27 New Living Translation (NLT)
27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.
Joshua 1:9 New Living Translation (NLT)
9 This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Matthew 6:34 New Living Translation (NLT)
34 “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.
Isaiah 43:1 New Living Translation (NLT)
The Savior of Israel
43 But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you. O Israel, the one who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine.
Psalm 34:4 New Living Translation (NLT)
4 I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me. He freed me from all my fears.
is fear holding you back
I could list many more verses but there are too many for this article. God mentions fear over 500 times according to a Google search I just did. So this subject is huge in His eyes. Why do you think that is? What I think is that fear is what holds us back from fully experiencing God. He wants to bless us, to give us a life of peace and joy but if we let our emotions control us we cannot experience those positive aspects that can only come from God. We are not able to acknowledge the free gift thuat Jesus’ pain has given us.
is fear holding you back
Right now in my situation I could stay where I am and not let God help me grow more. The Lord is being faithful to the promise He gave me and leading my husband and I to our own home. But the details are so scary. I have been living under government assistance for all my adult life. Now my daughter is an adult and she is on my housing voucher with me. When I move I need to take my name off the voucher so she can use it on her own. The fear is that when I do that will I have to move right away. If I do, the house is not ready to be lived in. In order to look for apartments for my daughter to live in my name has to be off the voucher so landlords can see she has a legitimate way to pay rent. If we wait too long to look for an apartment for her she may not have one when she and both need to move out of our current apartment, then where will she go?
There are so many small details that have to work out just right for both of us. Details that only God can make just perfect. What I need to remember is that GOD IS IN CONTROL! God says do not fear so many times in the Bible. We are His creation, His precious people who He loves and cares for. He brought us to this, He will bring us through it.
What do you fear today? Is it holding you back from doing the next best thing the Lord wants you to do? How do you handle the emotion fear? Lets discuss this in the comments below or in our Life Group on Facebook.

Day 82 of 100 prophecies fulfilled by Jesus – Made into an offering for sin
Is. 53:10-11 – But the Lord was pleased
To crush Him, putting Him to grief; If He would render Himself as a guilt offering, He will see His offspring,
He will prolong His days, And the good pleasure of the Lord will prosper in His hand. 11 As a result of the anguish of His soul, He will see it and be satisfied; By His knowledge the Righteous One, My Servant, will justify the many, As He will bear their iniquities.
Acts 10:43 – Of Him all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.
Acts 13:38-39 – Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through Him forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you, 39 and through Him everyone who believes is freed from all things, from which you could not be freed through the Law of Moses.
Rom. 3:21-26 – But now apart from the Law the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe; for there is no distinction; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Rom. 4:5-8 – But to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is credited as righteousness, 6 just as David also speaks of the blessing on the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works: 7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds have been forgiven, And whose sins have been covered. 8 “Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will not take into account.”
Eph. 1:7 – In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace
1 Pet. 2:21-25 – For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, 22 who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; 23 and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; 24 and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed. 25 For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls.
1 John 2:2 – and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
Jesus was made into an offering for sin. Only the spotless lamb of God could qualify for that.
Eight sayings by my former pastor, Brother Paul, a true man of God
Brother Paul is on the right, next to his son and one of his grandsons
It’s time to introduce you to my former pastor, Brother Paul Schmidt. These are truths that he taught to his three sons, all of whom are active in ministry. Brother Paul lived these sayings too. He won over 1,000 people to Christ.
1.) Always be kind to your waiters and waitresses and tip them well.
2.) Open the door for every person. 3.) People need love the most when they deserve it the least. 4.) Go to the back of the line and let others go first. 5.) There’s never a wrong time to do the right thing. There’s never a right time to do the wrong thing. 6.) People will forget what you say, but they’ll never forget how you made them feel. 7.) Don’t serve the Lord for money, fame, or importance. The ministry is its own reward. 8.) We can rest for a little while but we can never quit.
Brother Paul has been with the Lord now for over two years, but his impact still continues through his sons and the rest of his family. He was a great preacher and a great example of a Godly man.
